What does 8271 + 3981 equal to?

Learning Intention: We are learning to develop number strategy that we can use when solving a problem.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I explain the maths strategy 'splitting numbers' using two examples.

    Congratulations on being so smart at maths. It's not easy! This is such a valuable strategy where you split the numbers to make it easier to solve. I have been teaching this to my class this year.
